STAFF BENEFITS

In addition to a rewarding career, staff has personal needs and own lifestyle. We need leisure time to relax with friends and family and the flexibility to pursue personal needs. A sustaining career depends in part on continued good health and peace of mind. UAT understands staff is our most precious assets and therefore offers a wide range of reasonable staff benefits and we are flexible to help maintain a peaceful mind.

Salary Policy

UAT remunerates by way of basic monthly salary. UAT never attempts to underpay any talented employee. As a responsible corporate, UAT has the responsibility to well treat our staff and we offer reasonable competitive salary to our staff with regard to qualification, experience, and add-on values. However, sometimes the business bubbles twist the human resources market and result in volatile high pay. UAT never competes on irrational price and we will say no to irrational competition.

UAT Performance Incentive Program

Potential new staff may want to know if UAT pays year end bonus or double-pay. The answer is no. The rationale of UAT remuneration policy is to reward well performing employee. UAT does run a Performance Incentive Program called Performance Linked Certificate (PLC). Every PLC is equivalent to HKD500 and can be redeemed into cash under a few conditions. Participation is not automatic and the distribution of PLC is strictly in reference to performance. There is no prescribed time for distribution either. UAT is a dynamic and flexible company. Management board will decide when to distribute how much to who when an employee exceeds the business and financial objectives.

Mandatory Provident Fund

Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) is mandatory by law. UAT is committed to contributing an amount equal to 5% of your relative income to a registered MPF scheme.

Training

UAT adopts the approach of knowledge base culture and continuous training is important to acquire new skill sets and the latest technology. UAT pays for the travelling and training fee to send an employee to receive appropriate training, e.g. attending vendor training overseas, attending overseas seminars or local training courses. UAT supports personal development of our employees and always encourages them to take new training courses which are relevant to job natures.

Leave Policy

UAT is committed to providing and maintaining peaceful work environments and exercising duty of care to its employees in all its business activities. Notwithstanding any leave benefits expressly stated in the Labour Ordinance, UAT strives to provide higher standard of benefits to its employees and UAT regularly reviews and adjusts the benefits reasonably with regard to the then general business conditions. In all cases if UAT leave policies contradict with the local regulations, the local regulations prevail.

Marriage Leave

All employees enjoy three calendar days of paid marriage leave subject to a few conditions. For example, it is a one-time entitlement and the leave should be taken all at a time.

Compassionate Leave

An employee may apply for a maximum of five days paid compassionate leave or the minimum number of days, if any, as required by the Labour Ordinance, whichever is more, to prepare and attend funeral arrangements in the event of death of their parents, grand parents, spouse, children, parents-in-law, brothers and sisters.

Body Check during Pregnancy

UAT recognizes the need of body check during pregnancy and therefore allows for a flexible attendance and the employee is encouraged to communicate well in advance with her department head for a flexible arrangement. Leave for pre-natal check-ups, miscarriage (for less than 28 weeks of pregnancy), or post confinement medical treatment will not be treated as normal sick leave and are separately covered under maternity leave.

Sick Leave

Health should always be number one. When you are sick or injured, take time to recover. Local regulation has stipulated the sick leave rule. UAT always act according to regulations and in many cases does more. UAT does not strictly limit the number of sick leaves because we trust you will responsibly take care of your health. We allow flexible hours off for medical check up.

Medical Benefits

UAT strives to offer a rewarding career plus peace of mind. UAT has joined a group insurance plan with an insurance company to secure medical benefits are being provided to all employees, requiring no contributions from employees. This is an alternative way to income protection. Our group medical plan allows you to claim from the insurance the clinic fee and operation fee under the guidelines and conditions of the insurance plan. The medical plan is structured very simple as the employee directly fills out the claim form with the insurance company and gets reimbursement directly from the insurance company. UAT indeed has few involvements with the claim process.

Holidays

UAT recognizes the value of leisure away from work in order that the employee enjoys rest, family gathering and personal interest. UAT encourages the Employee to plan and take annual leave in a calendar year. After the probationary period, the Employee will be entitled to 10 days paid annual leave upon completion of twelve month’s continuous service. Each additional year of service will gain an additional one day annual leave until a total of 17 days.

Special Early Off

To be flexible and considerate is the culture of UAT. You may want to leave early or come back late, e.g. first kindergarten day of your child or marriage anniversary. Just speak out a few days in advance to your immediate supervisor and approval is mostly obtained. It is almost certain that a two-hour early off will be announced on the big Festival day, e.g. the Winter Festival, Christmas Eve, and Mid-Autumn Festival. In bad weather time, we encourage our staff to leave early to avoid the traffic.

Life-Style Activities

UAT always promotes healthy life style and gathering activities. We have weekly badminton exercise and all employees are welcome to come to the badminton court and exercise. Barbecue, boating and karaoke are regularly arranged and all staff and their families are welcome. As a symbolic reward for our hard work, UAT buys good meals to celebrate a project start and closing.
